Okay, let’s be honest here: while the command line is the best tool for some things, it has a high learning curve if you’re just starting out, and many utilities—sudo not least among them—could use an interface overhaul. I’m willing to bet this first-run text has been in place since sudo was originally written “around 1980”; it has the admonitory flavour of a utility written for a many-user system in an academic environment.

Hmmm. Now I’m tempted to write up alternative interfaces/help/man pages for some UNIX utilities…
