you know what no i’m fucking angry about doctor who again

it used to be something so much bigger than itself. it lifted people up and inspired people to be better and even if it was kind of silly sometimes you really felt like you mattered just from watching it.

and now basically all it is is steven moffat’s sandbox and he’s brought in all his favorite action figures and he’s got the dashing heroes saving the sexy ladies and riding dinosaurs and at one point it sort of goes off into sherlock holmes or cowboys and there’s no real rhyme or reason to it

I care about Clara and maybe the lizard woman and her wife (whose names I can never remember) and that’s about it. Not the Doctor, not even really River anymore, definitely not the Ponds. And I’m dubious about the lizbians because they were just kind of in media res’d into the series and they have no backstory whatsoever.

I seriously think a major part of the reason I don’t like them better is because they’re Moffat’s doing, and given what he’s said about queer characters, I just don’t trust his motives.

This really makes me pretty unspeakably sad. I taught a class on this bloody show and now I’m having a really hard time caring about it. Ugh.
