When the libertarians start promising to protect women, children, and minorities against tyranny of the majority, AND start working to dismantle huge corporations that put profits ahead of people, I might quit laughing at them. Till then, no dice.
I suspect you didn’t take the time to look up Gary Johnson’s platform. He’s to the left of Obama on just about every social issue—and was even while running on the Republican ticket. Be sure to check out his background, too; he was reelected as the governor of a Democratic state (New Mexico) despite making heavy use of the line-item veto to balance the budget.
I’m not saying Gary Johnson is perfect. His positions on fiscal issues leave a lot to be desired, and I think the flat tax (which he wants to implement) is the last refuge of the wealthy scoundrel. But if you believe in the inviolability of Constitutional rights, and you think someone should have to actually support marriage and trans* equality to get the queer rights vote, then please take the time to compare Gary Johnson’s platform and record to those of President Obama. If you look at them without partisan blinders on, I think you’ll be very surprised by what you see.
