Hey Jonathan,
This was truly brilliant, both in the way you created a narrative through intercutting and in the way it completely undermined Edward’s somewhat cheesy lines and the pseudo-melodrama of the film. However, I’m still not sure the vid doesn’t partially deconstruct itself given that Buffy’s attitude toward hot and creepy vamps isn’t as suave and disinterested as we see her act toward Edward here. I think you even used footage from Angel stalking her in S1, so the unspoken context for a Buffy fan at least is that Buffy may recognize Edward’s creepy behavior, but she certainly fell for Angel’s, right? Nevertheless, as a critique of Twilight and the supposed attractiveness of Edward’s stalkerish and weird behavior, this BuffynotBella response is great! Thanks for sharing!

This is a thing of beauty, Jonathan. Thank you!
Kristina Busse, good point: but Buffy’s behaviour towards Angel was always more double-edged (and occasionally pointy) than Bella’s towards Edward. Also, Angel came in for a lot of criticism from the surrounding characters. His stalky romance with Buffy is definitely a problematic element to the show, but to my mind it doesn’t come close to the problematic elements in Twilight, where Edward’s behaviour isn’t critiqued at all.
