Surat Al-Baqarah [2:62] - The Holy Qur’an - القرآن الكريم
In other words, according to the Qur’an, if you’re an Abrahamite (no, not the other kind) and you really believe in God and Judgment Day, and you do good works here on Earth, you’re pretty much set if Islam turns out to be the Truth—whether you consider yourself Muslim or not.
Of course, 3:85 says that anything other than Islam—literally, “submission (or surrender) to God”—will not be accepted by God and will make you a loser (listen, I just report ‘em). I, and many Muslims, read that as a requirement of surrender to God’s will rather than a literal requirement to follow the Islamic religion exactly. Between 2:62 and this interpretation of 3:85, if you’re one of the People of the Book, and live according to God’s will, you’ll be vindicated come Judgment Day.
Hear that, American Christians? Real Muslims and Allah think you’re pretty cool; it’s just the crazy militant fundamentalists you have to watch out for.
